Water

I love water... and not just because it helps to keep me alive or because as a human the majority of me is water.
I'm a pisces, I love to swim, I love to stand under the shower feeling water running over me, I learnt to swim by jumping in the deep end of pool after my doll (my delightful brother chucked it in the pool). My grandfather was an Olympic class swimmer, I swam competitively and my mum and I use to go the local pool at some ungodly hour of the morning to do laps before I went to school.
I also love nothing more than to sit watching waves crashing on to a beach or rocks. When I was in high school one of our camps was to a place called Kangaroo Island, just off the coast of South Australia. The far side of this island faces the Antarctic (its fair way from it, but the wind comes from that direction) and is buffeted by some fairly strong winds and the waves crashing in are spectacular. There are a few places the waves are known to splash up to 50 metres or more up the side of the cliffs. We actually have some shots from that camp where a few of the blokes got a shower unexpectedly whilst standing on the top of one of these 50 odd metre cliff faces.
There is this great place called Admiral's Arch... which is a big hole in the stone leading down to the water..really amazing to see. Fur Seals frolic in the icy water and waves crash in. But just around the corner along a narrow path is this spot where a natural seat has formed on the rocky island side. There aren't as many seals frolicking here, but the water plays with the shore in a mesmerising fashion. I sat staring at those waves as they danced amongst the rocks for an hour or more. It is one of my favourite memories of that camp... and one day I hope to return there.

So to celebrate the memory of that camp I went for a wander through the studios of a few Polymer Clay Smooshers to find some 'water' pieces or things that remind me of water.

Great pieces and great post! I'm jealous of your prowess in the water. I won't drown, but I'm by no means at home there.

Speaking of beautiful, you picked some wonderful pieces that remind you of water. I can see the inspiration.

Oh, what a wonderful place, that could make me a water person for sure! You picked some fine pieces to commemorate it, too, just beautiful, but I love the frogs, they are too cute!
